As the field of special needs planning evolves, attorneys are required to be knowledgeable in all areas of planning. Special Needs Planning attorneys are expected to have a fundamental understanding of drafting, administration, public benefits, etc. Practitioners know they must go beyond the basics to the more in-depth areas of these core issues, while at the same time extending their reach to the more relevant issues which revolve around the core in order to provide the best counsel to their clients. This years ASNP annual meeting will explore these nascent areas of practice; fill in the gaps in key areas; prepare attendees to identify new opportunities to service their clients and strengthen their core disciplines.

This program is designed for the seasoned special needs planner that already has a firm foundation of the core areas of drafting and administration. Attendees will have access to nationally recognized presenters and materials that reach further into the field by discussing documents, methodologies, regulations and laws.

ASNP’s 2010 keynote speaker will be Jeffrey N. Pennell, Richard Clark Professor of Law who teaches Income tax, wealth transfer tax, trusts and estates, estate planning at Emory Law School. Mr. Pennell will present on the pitfalls of special needs drafting and how avoid them.
